Rent the Spirit Rock at YMES and paint a message for the whole community to read! A rental is $15 for two days, and all proceeds fund programs through the YMES PTA.
How to Sign Up You must reserve your two days using our SignUp Genius Form: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040D4FAAAA22A2FD0-ymes. You can sign up for any two days in a row on the form, including Friday + Monday. If you would like to sign up for additional days, please do so in increments of 2 and pay accordingly (e.g. 4 days = $30). Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. After signing up for your days, payment is due immediately, or your days will be released. You can Venmo @YMESPTA or pay online via our MemberHub store. You can rent the rock for any occasion—a birthday, celebrating a milestone, encouragement, advertising a club, and more! To be eligible, you must be a YMES parent, guardian, grandparent, faculty, staff or PTA member.
Painting the Rock It is your responsibility to paint the rock. You will need to provide the paint and supplies needed to paint your message. Please bring a plastic drop cloth to protect the area around the rock and water & soap to clean up afterwards, as you cannot access the school building while painting the rock. You may begin painting the rock at 4:15pm the day BEFORE you have signed up for the rental. Similarly, if someone reserves it right after your rental, they may begin painting their design over yours at 4:15pm on the last day of your reservation. All messages must be appropriate for an elementary school community and follow our FROGS expectations. Any messages deemed inappropriate will be painted over without notice, and you will lose your right to rent the rock in the future.
Painting Tips!
We recommend using spray paint or paint suitable for the outdoors. Craft paint will fade and wash away.
It will take 1-2 cans of spray paint to cover the prior design, depending on color chosen. Plan on at least two light coats.
The cheap spray paint works great! You don’t have to buy the expensive stuff.
Remember that latex paint will take longer to dry while you are painting your design. Several light coats of spray paint will dry faster.
Don’t forget water, soap, and paper towels to clean up!
